Gimme broke my heart by passing away. Val took the pieces away when she passed. Val got sick one evening and within hours she was gone. I'm not convinced she bloated as she didn't show the usual signs of bloating. But I know of nothing else that could have taken her so suddenly.

Val had an enthusiasm for life that I have never before seen. She woke up every day ready to face the world - Or ready to help me face the world. She was absolutely attached to me. She pushed other dogs away not because she was my dog but because I was *her* person. If someone was holding her leash, even if she was only feet away, she would dance with happiness when I returned to her.

I thought Val was one of the most beautiful Danes in the world. Of course I did! She was bred by me (from Gimme x Sean). She didn't have a lot of height, but she had structure, bone, and reach & drive! The judges didn't appreciate her nearly as much as I did, though, only giving her Winners enough times to give her 12 points. She lacked one major to complete her AKC Championship. The UKC judges, on the other hand, adored her! She went Best in Multiple Breed Show once, Reserve Best once or twice, and won or placed in the group more times than I can remember. I always planned to do obedience and rally with her, but ended up moving to the state of Washington and working more than training my dogs!

Val, however much she would have liked obedience/rally... she LOVED coursing ability and fast cat. She completed her CA (coursing ability) in 3 straight trials. Her first time in fast cat, she ran 21.73mph. She likely would only have gotten faster from there!

When we completed all of her health testing we found that she was severely displastic in her hips and made the decision then not to breed her.

I have so much I could say about Val. She was such a part of my life, she lit up a day just because she was there. She didn't just leave a hole in my heart, she created a sinkhole when she left me. I miss you so much!
